Have you thought about your feet?
They take you from here to there. Some days you skip from here to there. Other days you plod along slowly. And sometimes there is the brisk walk, taking some air to exercise or rushing off to a job.
Have you thought about your feet?
What happens when those feet had to walk towards a scary person. Walk towards a violent person.
Have you noticed how little your feet were when you were a child? Those little feet walked you to the epicenter of your world. The angry dad. The angry, harsh dad. The angry, harsh dad who blamed your little feet for his troubles.
Those poor little feet had to walk where they didn’t want to go.
The poor little feet that were small and tiny. Those little feet couldn’t choose another way. If those little feet ran away, the big feet chased and caught the little feet. Those little feet tried to hide, but the big feet were better at finding.
I feel sad for little feet that had to do the bidding of an unkind world.
Those little feet had to do what the big feet said. Even if those little feet were scared, anxious and afraid of those big feet.
Little feet, you have had to go places you never wanted to go.
And now, when those little feet became big, those big feet find themselves walking towards scary people. Those big feet think that they are still little feet, doing the bidding of the angry dad.
Jesus, would You rescue these little feet that live inside our big feet?
These little feet inside us compel us to walk towards angry people. These little feet inside us walk with dread towards angry people. And once there, these small feet inside us stay stuck, stay close to people who remind us of our angry, harsh dad. Even though it is dreaded, it is familiar.
Jesus, would You liberate these little feet inside us that are filled with dread? Will You turn these little feet of mine to dancing, to skipping, to playing? Would You give these scared little feet of mine another childhood—one of peace and rest? Would You, please!

These little feet of mine want to play, to dance, to skip alongside of You, Jesus. You do skip and dance and play, don’t You, Jesus? Come play with these little feet of mine today
A giggle and delight well up in these little feet of mine today!
A giggle and delight well up in these little feet of mine!
